I played both games professionally. Both of games are combat games and highly paid games and as I observe boxing is better to a make career because boxing can played two sides first is amateur and second is likely a business ( professional) .

Basically depends on if you are training at home or at the gym , at the gym you will need first handwraps, boxing gloves, mouth guard, groin guard, chest guard is an option if you are sparring (practice fights) , if you want to train at home a punching bag would suffice initially
