2x 3y is not a linear equation. It should be 2x+3y = 7 which is a straight line. put x = 2 and y =1 in it and see 2*2+3*1 = 7. So the point (2,1) is on the staright line.

Coordinate geometry is used everywhere. The first question is if there exists a point in space how should I represent it's location? Then with respect to what should I get it's location? I think it is like making geometry more rigorous.
