* Prophase:Chromosomes condense, nuclear membrane disappears, spindle forms.
* Metaphase:Chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell.
* Anaphase:Chromosomes split apart and move to opposite sides.
* Telophase:New nuclear membranes form around each set of chromosomes; cell starts to split.
After M phase, cytokinesis happens, dividing the cytoplasm into two new cells.
