Suppose we not able to handle the runtime exception we can throw the exception to the caller Whether it is normal method or main method where u write ur connection coding Example In th main method Public static void main(String args) throws SQLException

API’s doesn’t matter. I’ve encountered a lot of programming competitions and most of the problems requires an algorithm like sorting and searching, algorithm using a recursive function and a lot of mathematical problems. I would recommend that you study Data Structures and Algorithm Analysis.
