IELTS commenced from 1989 and it became a custom for British Council/IDP Australia to provide a sample book to the students who registered for the test. IELTS Cambridge Book 1 was the first to be published and given to the students. The book contained 4 academic and 2 general tests with audios in CD form.
since then, book 2 and so on have been published in regular intervals, with Book 16 being the latest.
I think these books should be good enough for anybody because they do cover a long period of time and the variety is sufficient.
All books come with answers for Listening and Reading whereas for Writing, model answers are a good guide for guidance.
