Now, there are and have been millions, maybe trillions, of books on “HOW TO” kind of segment from cookery to wood furniture making and flower arrangement. That’s it. There have never been a book which says this book will teach you how to make a bad pasta, another which instructs how to make an average pasta and yet another, which illustrates the art of making an excellent pasta. Similarly, all books will dwell deep into the intricacies and finer nuances of the IELTS test and threadbare the different degrees of difficulties and try and offer solutions which may guide and lead the student to a higher degree on a constant basis. Yet, I have some advice. Most of the books, Cambridge IELTS books included, simply offer test along with answers. These are good for practice but do not offer solutions to the problems faced by students. On the other hand, there are books which analyse many facets of the test and help the students to expand their knowledge of the test. Some of the books are – Focus on Academic Skills for IELTS. IELTS MASTERCLASS IELTS FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSE There are many and, trust me, these are very good but it does need a good trainer to guide you through. Can it be done without a trainer, Yes, of course. But at your own peril ! read less

IELTS commenced from 1989 and it became a custom for British Council/IDP Australia to provide a sample book to the students who registered for the test. IELTS Cambridge Book 1 was the first to be published and given to the students. The book contained 4 academic and 2 general tests with audios in CD form. since then, book 2 and so on have been published in regular intervals, with Book 16 being the latest. I think these books should be good enough for anybody because they do cover a long period of time and the variety is sufficient. All books come with answers for Listening and Reading whereas for Writing, model answers are a good guide for guidance. read less
