7 or above is a decent band to pursue studies or work in England. There are 2 types of IELTS exams accepted in the UK, Standard IELTS and IELTS UK-VI. 7 or above is a decent band to pursue studies or work in England. There are 2 types of IELTS exams accepted in the UK, Standard IELTS and IELTS UK-VI.

  1. If you plan to go for work, you will have to take IELTS General; it depends on the profession you choose.
  2. If you plan to go for studies, you will have to take IELTS Academic, which depends on the university or college intake requirement. Either way, I suggest you do thorough research or ask someone who has already gone through this process.

I hope this helps.

Also, if you are opting for higher academic programmes such as PhD, then one of the competitive exams like IELTS, GRE, TOEFL, etc is a compulsion aiming 70-80% in scores. While for bachelors minimum 6 bands is required.

Overall, 6.5 and an individual minimum of six each would be required. Although you may proceed to file with 6 band in two modules and 5.5 in one and 5 in another, there're few chances that you would have to face an Embassy interview then, and you might not clear it. Overall, 6.5 and an individual minimum of six each would be required. Although you may proceed to file with 6 band in two modules and 5.5 in one and 5 in another, there're few chances that you would have to face an Embassy interview then, and you might not clear it. In such a case, your passport would not be stamped with rejected visa, meaning at this moment, you'll be out of the process even before getting a visa.
But next time, you may get a visa. So to avoid all this hassle, I would suggest you score min. 6 in each or at least in three modules. And few colleges in the UK accept your entry without an IELTS score.

Good luck!
