IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. The name itself suggests that this is not an employment test. Hi Vishnu, IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is a pen and a paper test that guages your proficiency in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking skills of the English language. People appear for this exam for two main reasons. First, students who want to study in English speaking countries need to clear this exam to secure admissions in universities in those countries. Second, working professionals who want to migrate to countries like Australia and Canada for the purpose of job or for settling permanently need to clear this exam. So, there is no guarantee that you will secure a job abroad if you pass IELTS. Hope this helps. read less
