IELTS is a simple test which will assess your English. Speaking is one of the 4 modules and the duration is 11-14 minutes. Now, the question you have posed is' what questions are asked or what are the common topics'. Well, there is no syllabus so any question can be asked but it will be always in the realm os the possibility that any person can answer but in English. Trust me, there is no chance that a technical question will pop up, its just the nevousness of the candidate. So, relax and take it easy. If your English is fluent and your vocabulary range is adequate, you can expect 7 or more. Any hesitancy or lack of fluency will be marked around 6 and too much problem in communication could result in 5 or below. read less

The test is about English, and more specifically, proficiency in the English language. Therefore, what difference doesit make as to ' common topics' likely to be asked in the test. Whatever be the topic, any student exposed to a certain situation or situations should be able to answer. They might ask you about your home, family, education, transport system etc. Question could be about flower, curtains, food, vacations, appliances, it really does not matter. One doesn't learn or use a language based one TOPICS, rather a language is used to copewith situations. So, keep this in mind, if you are nervous, start speaking and listening to English as much as you can, and you should be okay. read less
