How important is vocabulary practice to appear for IELTS writing test?

You do not have to have very rich vocab. Relevant vocab is more important. With average vocab you can score more than 7 band if you use it appropriately All the Best Raj

It is important to score that extra band otherwise decent vocabulary can also fetch you a decent score like 6.5 or 7 bands.

Hi Shilpa,Greetings from Apple Academy. It is very important,particularly in IELTS Academic.However ,for IELTS General you don't have to use Academic vocbulary.
