Format > Cells > Font > check Superscript then type '2' which will appear as superscript Format > Cells > Font > uncheck Superscript

1.Please goto Home tab in excel window 2. select launcher mark at right bottom of the font group 3. Format cells dialog box will come 4. Select font tab 5. check superscript option the press ok

If you want to type 5 Square ( 5^2) in a cell. Type '52 in the cell -> Select the letter 2 alone -> Format -> Cells -> Fonts -> click on the check box Superscript.
