An acoustic guitar is made of wood and is shallow ok purpose to make sound. Whereas an electric guitar need an amp or speaker. It's not loud enough to play anything on its own. The acoustic guitar is generally used for singing and background music while the electric guitar can be used with a lot of effects and in Rock music as lead guitar.
