Capo is a device you fasten at the neck of a guitar. It works like a clip, which presses down on the strings thereby reducing the overall length. This raises the pitch of the guitar. Every fret you move down changes the note by half a step. let's say your guitar is standard tuned. EBGDAE. If you place the capo on the first fret, your tuning becomes FCG#D#A#F. Capo on second fret makes it F#C#AEBF# and so on Similarly normal shaped chords also increase by half a note. With capo on fret 1, holding standard A chord will sound like an A# and so on. read less
