No and it will not go out of fashion. There are some specific tones or feel that you will get only on electric guitars

No for me but yes some celebrity and instrument collector bought beautiful and expensive guitar as parts of decorations. But true musicians will never waste guitar for nothing but make a beautiful melody.

No.. its just that the cheap ones are crap.. and beginners with no experience tend to go for the cheap ones with bad tones. Buy a expensive guitar and amp first.
