Acoustic guitar is almost maintenance free, but when it comes to electric guitar a session guitarist should go through a guitar setup after every 6 month of a time period, that's what I think.

Lossen the strings when u are not playing,use lemon oil on fretboard whenever u feel it's dry and also wipe th guitar with micro fibre cloth
