Totally depends upon your experience and taste of music electric guitars are best for solos and blues as well as Pentatonic scales

Excellent guide to beginning the guitar

it totally depends on what you want to learn. if youre more inclined towards more metal or other songs that use the electric guitar then definately go for it but if u wanna start learning from the basics of guitar i would recommend getting an acoustic guitar first
