To some people if you own 3 guitars it might be 2 too many, to someone else 15 isn't quite enough.

Eh I'd say more than 5 is too many. A single coil, a humbucker, a bass and an acoustic should be all you ever need...at most. If you're a live player, I'd add a backup for gigs to that list, in case you break a string on stage or your guitar has a technical issue while performing.
