How do I select the right gauge of strings for my guitar?

Almost 7 years of playing experience

Go with whatever you want to! But if you are playing acoustic, don't go below 9s , it's bad for your fingers! It makes your fingers lazy and the guitar starts sounding unnecessarily snapy!
