Well it mostly depends on what kind of guitar you purchase. Personally I have seen acoustic guitars ranging from 4k to 35k and electric guitars ranging from 12k and beyond. If you are a beginner better buy an acoustic guitar cause I have seen people tend to quit after a few months and if you do that the investment on an electric guitar would go waste as you have to purchase an amplifier and an effect processor (optional) along with it. read less

Yes acoustic guitars are cheaper as while buying electric guitar you will also have to buy amplifier and other complimentary accessories. So all together cost increases in electric guitar as compared to acoustic guitar.
