The GRE and the GATE are two very different exams. The GRE tests your Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning abilities. It is mandatory to clear the GRE exam if you want to secure an admission for your MS or PhD in some American University. On the other hand, the GATE tests you on your subject knowledge that you studied in your bachelors course (read mostly engineering). The GATE exam is an entrance exam to get into the IITs for your MTech course. Recently, GATE scores are also used in the recruitment process of many PSU Companies. read less

Answer to Q.2 It is better to continue MS immediately after your UG. Since you are going to specialize in the area of your interest a break is not advisable. In case you are going to pursue MBA, then experience becomes necessary.
