Chinese (and Japanese) use pictorial depiction and are not easy to learn. Further Chinese is not one but different variations like Mandarin and Hakka. So which one are you referring to?

Chinese, Japanese are difficult. The reason is we need to learn & actually memorise the symbols used as alphabets. Whereas in German, alphabets are written same as English.
