First you can't apply for Gate exam because Gate exam is conducted for engineering graduates . However you can apply for GAte Jam which is an equivalent exam for science graduates.

Yes obliviously you can apply for gate. There is no attempt and age limit in GATE. you can apply in any stream you feel but you have to write the exam and score, so please choose only that stream in which you can score better. For details go through GATE 2017 advertisement in OCT.
