How do I learn to play?

0 0

Bilvaa replied | 05 Jul

First get to blow the flute and get a clear sound. This can be self-taught and experimentally done also. If you enroll with a good teacher it would be better. The teacher can help you right from buying the flute. Best is to enroll with a good teacher. You can contact bilvamusic our centr in Chennai - direct classes for Chennai based students and for others it is over the net.

Normally B natural or C natural are suggested to start with but G# is suggested once you finish Alan karas

G is easy to blow and get a good clear sound, if you are a beginner. The lower pitches like B, C will need more force for blowing, and the beginners can also get discouraged as more 'woofy' sound may come instead of a musical note, when you blow. I would recommend G. If someone feels G is very shrill and loud (usually for neighbours comfort and other family members comfort) they can try F.

Best to do from 7 or 8. Sometimes at 6 years when they start, the fingering is not so easy for the hands, and so the child may get frustrated. If interested in music the child can be made to learn some vocal, or bhajans, etc., which will help when they start an instrument like flute after 1 -2 years

It depends up on the student's interest and teacher's capacity. If the girl is very particular to learn flute let her try blowing in a small flute. If sound comes then u can start. No harm in it. Best of luck .

Not difficult if you have a good interest and you are willing to spend some time and efforts. (plus some money). These days we teach over the net also, and so people learn even from West Indies. (We have one student from that place!) If you are already exposed to Carnatic music or any classical music as a listener you would find the lessons easier. In fact it is a good exercise and improves overall health and lung capacity, and so it is also recommended for asthma patients some times, even by doctors, as a helpful exercise. «less

I advic south indian flute is ideal

Bilvaa replied | 29/12/2015

South style, in my opinion, is easier to play and learn. It is easier to get a sound on the shorter flutes and also the fingers are not very far apart, so for beginners it is easier.
