More than anything, it is about coming to the mat every day, without expectations. When you do this seriously for over a while, you will realise that you've been building up a practice of making and holding space within yourself by moving your body in different ways (asanas) and modulating your breath (pranayama) and practising concentration of mind (Dharana).
As you become comfortable with these changing experience of mind, body and breath, you also begin to stay more relaxed and clam towards the ever-changing reality of your life. In the long run, your life becomes a reflection of your time spent on the mat practising all the different practices of that Yoga as a discipline imbibes. It's all about temperament building.
