he should try from Basic Dance things. first prepare his/her body physically and mentally for Dance like strenght, stemina, Flexible, confidence, attitude, expression. then focus on foot work. dancer will understand that for beginners.

I am 18+ now.Though I have never learned dancing I am very much interested amd passionate about learning Bharatnatyam or Kathak but I lack confidence as people of my age are already very good dancers.Moreover,now I have pressure of my studies. So how can I start learning any one of the classical dance forms as soon as possible? 
Hey.... U can learn dance in any age... I m doing PhD in dance.... And teaching from many years... I have students of age 3 to 55+also .. And I think dance is an art which can be learnt at any point...
