I am a 2016 MCA graduate. I think I am good in programming but very poor in communication (English). Because of that, I am not placing any company. How can i improve myself in English? Give me some suggestions..

Hello! Try to build confidence on yourself that as you have studied all along in English medium why can not you speak in commanding English. Take any written material and stand before a mirror and read loudly for 15minutes every day. Increase your vocabulary by learning new words those can be used while speaking. Every day try to speak for 30minutes in English with any one to begin with. Do not worry how you speak and what other will think on your English. It is their problem and not yours. Your job is to speak and you are doing the job to best of your capabilities. You must watch a English TV news channel, may be BBC, CNN or DD Doordarshan for 30minutes daily and watch carefully how the news reader is speaking and try to speak like that. Read any national English News Paper daily which will increase your GK as well as English language competency. Having said all these I must advise you that please program your mind that YOU CAN SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH. Good luck. read less

Hi, Jinu. The problem that you are facing is a very common one. There are many who face a problem in communicating in English. But it's not a very difficult problem to solve. Just think about how you learned your mother tongue. The first step to learn any language is listening. Try and listen to as much as English as you can. The easiest way is to listen to daily news on TV channels and other programs in English, especially connected to the subject that you like. For example, if you like wildlife, watch National Geographic programs. The next step is to read English. Begin by reading the daily news papers. This would help you in building up your basic vocabulary and would train your mind to convert your thoughts in sentences of English language. The third step is to slowly and gradually trying to sleep as and when you build your confidence by implementing the first two steps. Try to make friends who can speak in English with you and would encourage you to do the same. What could also help you is to make your personal long book or a diary in which you write about your everyday experience in English. That should help you.
