Never pre-judge

By doing this , relative velocity of ball wet to hand decreases and hence momentum also decreases . Thus hance of injury in player's hanh gets decrease.

By increasing the time duration the force on players hand reduces..

because the cricketer increases the time in which ball is caught and as times increases, the rate of change of momentum decreases, and the force acting on the hands is reduced. It is correctly explained by given formulae as time and force are inversely proportional to each other Force = Momentum /...

Nice question to explain Newton's 2nd law which states the rate of change of momentum is proportional to the force applied. If you have not lowered your hand while catching, all of the force will be absorbed by your hand (Flesh and bones) and you may feel the pain. If you have lowered appropriately...

Nice question to explain Newton's 2nd law which states the rate of change of momentum is proportional to the force applied. If you have not lowered your hand while catching, all of the force will be absorbed by your hand (Flesh and bones) and you may feel the pain. If you have lowered appropriately along the ball, you were actually reducing the momentum which in turn reduces the force applied. Hence you can feel less pain compared to the other case. Now you have understood the application of Newton's 2nd law with this problem. Happy Learning!!! read less

Does Newton's 2nd law of motion contain the 1st law as a special case?

Yes, as per newton's second law, F=ma. Hence, if F=0, then a=0, which is nothing but the essence of the first law, which states that everybody continues to be in its state of rest or of its uniform motion...

why 200 volt AC is more dangerous than 220 volt DC???
current or voltage we measure for AC are alaways rms(root mean square) value not the actual magnitude so 220 volt ac(rms)= 220*sqrt(2)=311 volt but 220 volt DC alaways gives the magnitude...
