Electric line of forces are basically graphical representation of electric field lines which emerge from a positive charge and terminate at negative charge particles. To know the direction of resultant electric field at a point, just draw a tangent to the electric line of force. Also the denser the electric line of forces more is the intensity of electric field and vice versa. Now the important thing. Electric lines of forces are purely a geometrical construction which help us to visualise the nature of electric field in a region. They don't have any physical existence. Electric lines of force are drawn to point out the direction of electric field. They originate from positive charge and terminate at negative charge. The direction of Electric field intensity at a point can be calculated by drawing the tangent to the line of force at that point.

It represents that a positive charge would travel radially away from the first charge when placed in the field of a positive electric charge in space consist of a family of straight lines radiating uniformly in all directions from the charge where they originate.

It's Different

The electric lines of force that represent the field of a positive electric charge in space consist of a family of straight lines radiating uniformly in all directions from the charge where they originate. A second positive charge placed in the field would travel radially away from the first charge.

Electric lines of force represent: Direction of Electric field at the point- It is the tangent to the line at that point and direction in which +ve charge would move. Intensity of Electric field at the point- Proportional to the number of lines passing through per unit area perpendicular to the lines...
