Resultant force F= sqrt (16^2+12^2) => F=20N So F=ma => a=F/m=20/200 => a=0.1 ms-2

Total magnitude of Force is {(16)^2 + (12)^2}^1/2 = (256 + 144)^1/2=20 N Now,Force = Mass x Acceleration==>Acceleration = Force/Mass =20/200 = 0.1 m/sec^2

16N and 12N are acting in mutually perpendicular direction. So resultant force = â??(16² + 12²) = â??256+144 = â??400 = 20N mass of body = 200 kg acceleration = net force/mass = 20/200 = 0.1 m/s².

Easy, Qualitative and Tricky Mathematician

Simple take resultant force of 16N and 12N and it will become 20N Then a= F/m so 20N / 200kg ==0.1 N/kg

F=ma , net force is 16-12=4N then 4N=200kg*a , so a=.002 m/s2

Does Newton's 2nd law of motion contain the 1st law as a special case?

Yes, as per newton's second law, F=ma. Hence, if F=0, then a=0, which is nothing but the essence of the first law, which states that everybody continues to be in its state of rest or of its uniform motion...
