A transition element contains partially filled d orbital in its ground state or oxidation state but elements like Zn, Cd, Hg contain fulfilled d orbitals in their grond state as well as oxidation state.

Those element outer most electron present in d orbital but in d block inner tradition metal also involved also called as f block .
