There is no unanimous consent on this list, and it has seen several changes and criticisms regarding the vox populi that has been in vogue owing to the UNESCO not sanctioning them. The concept of having seven wonders has evolved out of ancient Greece where it was fabled to have first been archived by Herodotus ("The father of History ") but since no evidence has been found, it is only a theory. The latest update in this regard is the list that a private organisation named New7Wonders Foundation made after accounting over 100 million polls and publishing the following list in 2007: The Great Wall of China. The treasury at Petra in Jordan. The Colosseum in Italy. The Mayan city of Chichen Itza in Mexico. The Inca site of Machu Picchu in Peru. The Taj Mahal in India. The statue of Christ the Redeemer in Brazil. The list also had an honourary mention of the Great Pyramid of Egypt. read less
