The question is incorrect. Speed itself is a scalar quantity. You cannot have different "types" of a scalar quantity (by the term "scalar" I am referring to the non-rigorous concept of "scalar" used in physics). For example you cannot have different "types" of weight. When we say apparent weight, real...

The question is incorrect. Speed itself is a scalar quantity. You cannot have different "types" of a scalar quantity (by the term "scalar" I am referring to the non-rigorous concept of "scalar" used in physics). For example you cannot have different "types" of weight. When we say apparent weight, real weight, these are not different types of weight but these are just different "notions" of weight from different "viewpoints". Analogously, instantaneous speed, average speed, tangential speed, radial speed, root mean square speed, all are different "notions" of speed seen from different "viewpoints", but ultimately refer to the same physical quantity speed. read less

There are three types of speed: 1) Instantaneous speed (shown by the speedometer of a car) 2) Average speed: It is defined as the total distance covered over the time interval 3) Tangential speed: It is the speed of some object moving along a circular path.

instanteneous speed, average speed, tangential speed

Motion is either constant, or accelerated. Speed is a scalar quantity, whereas velocity is a vector. Hence, there are no 'types' of speed.
