The one-word definition of reflection of sound is ‘echo’! As a part of the question only implies, a reflection of sound is known as the bouncing back of a wave of sound from the surface of a solid or liquid. Sound reflection is bound by the laws of reflection, which are similar to that of the laws of reflecting light. Having said that, sound waves have a longer wavelength compared to that of the waves of light. Unlike light, sound waves do not necessarily require smooth surfaces for reflections to suffer. This is the reason why even an obstruction like a wall or board is known to reflect the waves of sound. Speaking of reflection of sound, the echo is a form of reflection where the sound arrives at the listener with a delay, which is the factor of the speed of sound that hits an obstruction.
