Anything that occupies space and have mass is called matter.
Matter is categoriesed into three states usually i.e. Solid, Liquid and Gas.
Now the question arises why do we need to categoriese different state of matter?
Its all depends upon the obeservation and physical properties we obeserve from our environment.Absolutely you have obeserve water in different states ie. Ice,Water and vapour.
