Hey Anjali, There are different levels in French - A1, A2, B1, B2. To reach upto the level of B2, it takes approx. 2 years.

Learning french requires to keep a hold on the basics. You can start having a hold on the language and communicate well within 3-4 months if you give ample time in a day. But I would recommend you go slow and spend ample time on its core basics and complete various courses to take a full year.
