Let megive you two perspectives: As a tourist:Yes, basic French is usually enough. Learning common phrases for greetings, restaurants, shopping, transportation, and asking for help can make your trip much smoother and more enjoyable. Many tourists visit France every year with only basic French. As a student:That's a different story. If you're planning to study in France, especially in a French-taught programme, basic French won't be enough. Most students should aim for at least a B1 or B2 level, depending on their academic goals. So, for tourism, basic French is often sufficient. For studies or work purpose, it's better to learn up to atleast level 4 (B2). 🇫🇷 read less
