Many tourists visit France every year with only basic French. As a student:That's a different story. If you're planning to study in France, especially in a French-taught programme, basic French won't be enough. You'll need a much stronger command of the language to follow classes, participate in discussions, complete assignments, and handle daily life independently. Most students should aim for at least a B1 or B2 level, depending on their academic goals. So, for tourism, basic French is often sufficient. For studies or work purpose, it's better to learn up to atleast level 4 (B2). 🇫🇷 read less
