Pronouns:

We use pronouns to take place of the nouns. The subject of a sentence is a person or thing that performs the action of the verb.

In all there are 2 types of pronouns:

1) Subject Pronoun,

2) Object Pronoun ,

The Subject Pronouns are used to replace the subject of the sentence: the person or the thing.

Example:

(1) What is Mary doing?

      She is reading a book.

Now here they are asking a question and Mary is a noun. But in the answer they are using a pronoun i.e 'she'.

(2) What are the boys doing?

     They are washing the car.

Here they are again asking a question and boys is a noun. But in the answer instead of using boys, they have mentioned the pronoun 'they'.

The object pronouns are used to replace the object of the sentence.

Example:

(1) I love this book. I read it last week: Here the book is called as object and 'it' is the pronoun used here. The pronoun 'it' is used to indicate the object i.e the book.

(2) This is my new puppy. I love her: Here the puppy is the object and 'her' is the pronoun. The pronoun 'her' is used to indicate the object i.e the puppy.

(3) Lisa and July are my friends. I message them everyday: Here Lisa and July are the subject and the pronoun 'it' is indicating the subject.
