The wavelength of red colour is maximum in the spectrum. From larger distances also you will be able to identify red colour. that's why traffic signals and danger signs in red colour.

Scientific explanation why red color is a symbol of danger is "Red color has maximum wavelength in the spectrum. Scattering of a color (by air particles) is inversely proportional to the forth power of wavelength of that color, Thus red color scatters least of all colors. Since red color scatters least so it will travel more distance than all other colors. Red color will travel in the form of a dense beam of light rather than traveling as number of less dense scattered beams. So it will visible to us more effectively even in the rain or fog. General explanation is since blood and highly burnt matters are red in color. So it indicates danger. read less

Because the scattering of this light is less in air molecules.

The primary reason why the color red is used for danger signals is that red light is scattered the least by air molecules. The effect of scattering is inversely related to the fourth power of the wavelength of a color. Therefore blue which has the least wavelength of all the visible radiations is scattered...

The effect of scattering is inversely related to the fourth power of the wavelength of a color. Therefore blue which has the least wavelength of all the visible radiations is scattered the most and red which has the highest wavelength of all the colors we can see is scattered the least. So red light is able to travel the longest distance through fog, rain, and the alike. read less

Red color has highest wavelength so it scatters the least . So it is able to travel the longest distance through air , rain , fog etc . Also red is the color we in herently percieve the color for danger .If the food color is red we assume it to be spicy , the colour of blood is also red These all instances...

Still many teaches do. But I am against it. It instills fears in mind of students rather than disciplining them.

Prove that (sinA-cosA+1)/(sinA+cos-1)=1/(secA-tanA)
LHS = (sinA-cosA+1)/(sinA+cos-1) = (1 + sinA) (1 - sinA)/cos A(1 - sinA) = 1 - sin2A/cos A(1 - sinA) = cos2A/cos A(1 - sinA) = cosA/(1 - sinA) = 1/ (1/cosA - sinA/cosA) = 1/(secA - tanA) = RHS Hence Proved
