Suryansh beta, First you learn about scalar quantity. Till 10th standard we learnt about scalar quantity. Such as distance and speed. It means scalar quantity has only magnitude we never talk about direction. But vector quantity has both magnitude and direction for example displacement and velocity. First We learn about displacement after that you can understand about vector. In displacement we take a initial point and final point no matter how we reach final point we just see the shortest distance in displacement which is known as magnitude and we make a arrow from initial point to final point which shows its direction. So wee see in displacement we study both magnitude and direction. So it is a vector quantity. But in 10 th class we studied about distance in which we only focus on magnitude and in distance we not take a shortest path we took all path and add all the distance to find total distance. So in distance we never take care about direction. So distance is a scalar quantity. read less

Vectors are quantities, that have both magnitude and direction and obey vector laws. For example, displacement, force, velocity, acceleration, etc.

A vector is a quantity that has two independent properties, magnitude and direction. Example: Velocity, Force, Acceleration etc.

You learn when you are comfortable.

Vectors are the quantities which have magnitude as well as direction... Like.. velocity... Acceleration.... When we say a car is accelerating... We will include a numerical value... And its direction of acceleration.

Vector means something is happening in a particular direction, basically it is any physical quantity which has magnitude as well as direction. Like speed of a car is 2okmph, but if you specify the direction in which the car is going, it becomes velocity, which is a vector quantity. hope you understoo...

A vector is a property that has both a magnitude and a direction. Vectors are drawn as an arrow with a tail and head. The length of the vector represents its magnitude.

The physical quantity that posses both magnitude and direction are called vector along with it would follow vector algebra.example velocity is a vetor quantity but speed is a scalar quantity.

A railway carriage of mass 9000 kg moving with a speed of 36 kmph collides with stationary carriage of the same mass. After the collision, the carriages get coupled and moved together. What is their common speed after collision? What type of collision is this?
The objects move together after the collision and have a common velocity. So it's a perfectly inelastic collision. To find the velocity we use Law of conservation of linear momentum. Given velocity v1=...

Why is only the speed of light constant in all frames of reference?

The only thing that affects the speed of light is the refractive index of the medium through which it moves, and for space, this number is 1.000000 and gives you the maximum possible speed of light.

Does Newton's 2nd law of motion contain the 1st law as a special case?

Yes, as per newton's second law, F=ma. Hence, if F=0, then a=0, which is nothing but the essence of the first law, which states that everybody continues to be in its state of rest or of its uniform motion...
