According to Einstein; the light is a particle which emits or absorbs the waves when it travels.

Ordinary light is made of particles called photons. These photons have energy and no rest mass.

Better to say it has energetic particles and so it has both energies as well as a particle. The energy in the form of EM waves and particle in the form of Photons.

Light is a form of energy. This much information is sufficient as far as classical physics is concerned. But if one thinks from the quantum mechanical or modern physics perspective, then light does possess particle nature as prooved by Einstein's explanation of Photo-Electric effect. Thanks!

The particle-like theories, such as on the experiments of the photoelectric effect and especially the Compton effect were solid proof of the fact that the Davisson and Germer experiment proved light exhibits either one of its nature in a particular experiment, then the de Broglie hypothesis on matter waves. Planck's final formulation of the Blackbody Radiation and Heisenberg's uncertainty principle then led to the breakthrough for the start of new Quantum theory or Quantum Mechanics, where light could be studied as a wave function based on the legendary Schrödinger's Equation. Anyways, light is a form of energy in both its natures. read less

Light having dual nature. Light is a particle, as well as wave. We can easily understand through Einstein Quantum mechanism & Debrogli theorem.

Light has dual nature, both particle and wave, although it is energy. In some experiments, like the photoelectric effect, it behaves as a particle called photons or quanta, which means a packet of energy. Light behaves as a wave, reflection refraction etc. The wave only shows these phenomena.

Light is also a particle! Now that the dual nature of light as "both a particle and a wave" has been proved, its essential theory was further evolved from electromagnetics into quantum mechanics. Einstein believed light is a particle (photon), and the flow of photons is a wave.

Energy has both nature particles as well as wave according to phenomena observed such as photoelectric effect it is particle nature considered and in interference and diffraction it is wave nature.

A railway carriage of mass 9000 kg moving with a speed of 36 kmph collides with stationary carriage of the same mass. After the collision, the carriages get coupled and moved together. What is their common speed after collision? What type of collision is this?
The objects move together after the collision and have a common velocity. So it's a perfectly inelastic collision. To find the velocity we use Law of conservation of linear momentum. Given velocity v1=...
