All electronics today are the result of quantum mechanics. The number of applications in this category would itself be much greater than 10. Medical imaging techniques use applications of nuclear physics - X-ray imaging, using tracer substances, magnetic resonance imaging, etc. Add to these the underwater imaging techniques. Transportation uses applications of physics - whether motorized vehicles, Maglev trains, aircraft (based on Bernoulli’s principle), rockets and spacecraft, to wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs, etc. Engineering techniques are based on Physics principles. The roads you travel on, the buildings in which you live, work, or shop, the factories that make the products you use, rely on engineering feats that would not be possible without a knowledge of the underlying physical principles. This is just the tip of the iceberg. read less

A railway carriage of mass 9000 kg moving with a speed of 36 kmph collides with stationary carriage of the same mass. After the collision, the carriages get coupled and moved together. What is their common speed after collision? What type of collision is this?
The objects move together after the collision and have a common velocity. So it's a perfectly inelastic collision. To find the velocity we use Law of conservation of linear momentum. Given velocity v1=...
