what is differennce between btech and bachelor of engineering?

BE is knowledge oriented. B Tech is skill oriented. BE is more theoritical and B Tech is more practical. In BE we study the reasons also in depth.

BE was the degree during the olden days, and B.Tech is the latest degree given in engineering colleges.BE focuses on more depth of the subject while B.Tech focuses more on the application of the subject.Ideally, both are the same now, and there is not much difference.

BE is focused mostly on theoretical portion not more on practicals while BTech contains practical as well as theory alsk. In other words we can say that BE is theory orientated while BTech is practical and theory oriented.

As far as degree is concerned both are same. Universities exclusively offering engineering call it as B.Tech and Universities offering engineering along with science, arts, humanities call it as B.E.

I do not know about the correctness of this reply of mine. At least this seems to be the position in Undivided Andhra Pradesh. When I went for counseling several years back to admit my son in Engineering Computer science: one College near our Town was offering B.E. and another College 45 km. away was offering B. Tech. The nearby college had good infrastructure and reputation. The far away College is family run and somewhat dynastic. My son choose the distant and the dubious College saying that it is B. Tech and not B.E. His explanation for preferring that dubious College: It is affiliated to JNTU (Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University). The nearby College was affiliated to Nagarjuna University awarding B.E. Students of both the Colleges have performed well in India and abroad. My son is also employed with a top IT Company, in spite of the poor teaching in the B. Tech College. So, ultimately several factors may decide our future. Nowadays, many B. Tech Graduates of TS and AP are roaming in Streets. Some of them are indulging in crimes, as they could not get employment. Some B.E. Graduates are also wandering. This doesn't mean that we shouldn't study B.E. or B. Tech. read less
