ECET is the test conducted in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States for Diploma Holders, who when qualified in this test, can get lateral entry into the corresponding branch of B.Tech. course in respective States. If you are academically very bright and just joined the Diploma Course after completing Inter, you can consider appearing for EAMCET or still better IIT-JEE next year - but it involves loss of one year. It depends on which state you want to pursue your B.Tech degree. In states like Odisha or Bengal you have respective state government entrance exam but in some states they don't have any entrance. So, the colleges go for an entrance test of their own.

"ECET ". After Diploma you have to clear entrance test of "ECET" if you cleared in it. Again through counseling you can choose any of the engg. College and you can do your tech course from 2nd year onwards. No need to start your b.tech course from 1st year. Because as you are from diploma.
