There is NO one best choice for this as there is a lot more scope for contemporary styles these days, and people don't follow a very traditional approach to learning vocals and instruments. However, still, to choose, you can learn Western vocals or light vocal Indian music. The difference between all these is mainly the APPROACH to singing/singing notes, and some theoretical differences though you can draw parallels. Carnatic is also a form of Indian music, where the approach to singing is different and is more Ghamaka based.
