Hi, I'm a guitarist and want to learn vocals. Which one should I go with? Is it western, Indian ,Carnatic? And what is the difference between them?

Do all the three in the following sequence.Western, Hindustani, ClassicalLearn Western for its simple structure and the knowledge of harmony.Hindustani for various rages that help you understand and express a range of emotions.Carnatic for microtonal knowledge and proficiency.

Hii vinci if i suggest go for classical because it's base of music after learning all the details about notes and everything you can switch to any genre you like than you can sing comfortably .

Hi I am a purcussionist. I would suggest you should get an introduction to Indian Classical Music. The basics introduced in Indian Classical Music form a strong foundation to learn varied forms of vocals.

However, managing singing Carnatic music while playing the guitar could be difficult because the genres of music have a lot of variation in their style. However, both western and Indian music will go well. Indian music can help you do fusion and also sing Bollywood songs very comfortably as it creates the base. You may go for western music at a later stage depending on your passion for singing pure western songs. read less

It's your choice. I can tell you that both are ridiculously complex and beautiful. But if you want me to suggest then Indian classical would be my Answer. There are many resources available these days for both serious and casual students of Indian classical music.

What is the difference's between lndian classical songs and western classical songs
Indian classical music has roots in spirituality. Ragas have specific times of day or seasons associated with them. Western classical music has no such them. Harmony and melody are important in western classical music.
