Yoga means connecting mind (mentally) and body (physically) through the spiritual way. To attain samadhi in Ashtanga Yoga, we need to go through Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana and Dhyana. Yama and Niyama are do's and don'ts. By started practising Asana we can achieve those two states. Pranayama control prana by different breathing techniques. Pratyahara is achieved by controlling sense organs. Dharana means to fix your concentration on one particular object. Dhyana means to focus on something for a long time without distraction(thoughtless).
