Hello, I'm Madhav Ajjampur, a Faculty member at Chanakya University, Bengaluru. I've been a lecturer at Chanakya for a year now and have taught English writing and Spoken English courses to undergraduate students there. I have a 4-year BA degree in Mathematics from Carleton College, a liberal arts college located in Minnesota, USA. In America, a liberal arts college is a place where you're given the chance to study any subject on offer while majoring in at least one subject; I used the opportunity to take courses in Writing, Philosophy, Economics, History, Sociology, Psychology, English Literature, Cinema Studies, and Anthropology. It's also where I learnt to write (formal) essays about a variety of subjects. I've signed up on Urban Pro because I'd like to teach English – AT ANY LEVEL TO WHOEVER WANTS TO LEARN IT. I chose Spoken English as my "area", but that's only because I could choose one option; the truth is that I'm just as willing to "take tuitions" in their English curriculum for 5th graders, 8th graders, & 11th graders as I am to teach Spoken English. My deep affection for the English language (a bequeathment from my mother, who's an MLitt in English literature) and language in general is the reason I believe that learning a language means LEARNING IT WELL rather than just functionally or to pass an exam. R.
