Learn the Hindi People Actually Speak Namaste! I'm Shruti, a native Hindi speaker from Kolkata, where Hindi, Bengali, and English all sat comfortably alongside each other in my everyday life growing up. I teach Hindi the way I believe it's most useful to learn — naturally, conversationally, and in the context of real life. My lessons are relaxed and conversation-led - aimed to make every student familiar with everyday expressions, colloquial Hindi, with all its rhythm, slang, tone and cultural context intact. We can work on pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and listening - but the format stays easy, built around actually talking. That includes the things textbooks often miss, like the little differences between technically correct Hindi and how people actually speak. My approach is patient, easygoing and encouraging, with plenty of room for conversation, questions and the occasional bit of humour. I have myself taken special interest in learning languages such as Telugu, Marathi, and Punjabi. Although not fluent, I have heavily leaned on music and films to be able to understand and speak basic words with confidence. That is the reason I love bringing India into our conversations - from food, films and humour to history, spirituality, regional cultures, festivals and everyday life. Having travelled across different parts of the country, I enjoy sharing the cultural logic behind why people say what they say. I believe that it is hard to learn any language without some of that context, and that it is as important as the language itself. What I won't do is make this feel like school. No rigid format, no over-explaining grammar rules, nothing textbook-heavy or intimidating. Whether you're starting from scratch, preparing for a trip, trying to connect with Indian friends or family, understanding Bollywood, or simply wanting to become more natural and confident in Hindi, we can shape the lessons around what you want to achieve. If you're curious and want to explore further, I'd love to help you find your way into Hindi.
