I have been told that Adobe Flash is being discontinued, which software should I instead learn for 2D Animation ?

Adobe Flash has been revived, and is now known as Adobe Animate. I would like you to try it out as it's an upgraded version of Flash, with some useful features. This version is much more animation friendly & even comes with support for camera to say the least. There are other options such as Anime Studio, Toon Boom, etc but as a professional you will have to go all over again to learn UI and keyboard shortcuts. Moreover the software will be automatically added to your creative cloud subscription service. read less

Yes it is an announcement from Adobe group, but still there will be extended support from Adobe group for some time. But if you are seriously looking for option to learn 2D then you can check out Anime Studio software or Toon Boom software.

Yes, it is true Adobe announced Flash will not continued and they did that. Flash appeared with new name Adobe Animate CC. Apart from Flash you can think about Toon Boom Animation, Anime Studio.

Drawing is base. The more strong base, more strong building. 2D animation require purely traditional drawing skill. You can use softwares for animation, but it has their own limitation. No software can give you 100% 2D animation.
