well beta all hypnosis is self hypnosis as when a suggestion is given by self it is self hypnosis and when given by the therapist it is hetro hypnosis but however the execution is by self in both the therapist is only a facilitator

Hypnosis and hypnotism are essentially one and the same. Like someone pointed out - the difference between self-hypnosis and hypnosis is doing it on one self and doing it on others. Hypnosis is ultimately is a tool/technique to be able to access your sub-conscious mind, while what one can achieve under hypnotic state is quite vast. But doing using self hypnosis has certain limitations which I would classify as technical. So depending on what is the reason you're exploring hypnosis one might be able to better guide to the result you're looking for by using this technique. read less
