Vocal music simply means the music which is sung..instead of played using instruments. So, anything you sing becomes Vocal Music. There are different forms of music. In Indian music alone, we have classical (Carnatic -South Indian style or Hindustani-North Indian style), semi-classical, light music (poetry sung in tune), ghazals, devotional music (bhakti geethes sung in tune), bhajans(short poems, shlokas sung or chanted in tune) etc.. While classical music teaches you step by step how to progress in your musical journey it would take years of learning and practice before you can be pro enough to perform confidently in front of others. So if you are totally new to music but just wish to enjoy music and would like to try your hand at it, I suggest starting with some simple form like bhajans or devotional or light music. Side-by-side, you can cultivate a habit of listening to good classical music and enrich your experience. I wish you all the best in your musical journey. read less
